What is Montessori?

Discover what authentic Montessori looks like at Little Eden, and why it matters for your child.

Montessori is more than a classroom; it's a whole-heart, whole-child approach to learning.

Montessori is an educational philosophy rooted in a deep respect for children and their natural desire to learn. And that philosophy guides everything we do at Little Eden: we nurture the whole child, supporting academic growth alongside social-emotional development, physical well-being, creativity, independence, and a growing sense of identity and belonging.

    Purposeful Play

Play isn't separate from learning here; it's one of the primary ways children make sense of the world. Each day balances purposeful Montessori lessons with rich opportunities for imagination, movement, and exploration.

    Learning Through Independence

Children build confidence by taking on meaningful responsibilities, from caring for themselves to caring for their environment. Independence is about developing the confidence to say, “I can.”

    Creative Expression

Daily opportunities for art, imagination, and creative exploration help children discover new ways to express themselves. Art becomes a way to think, explore, and make meaning, not simply a finished product.

    Small, Mixed-Age Classroom

Our intentionally small classroom allows teachers to truly know each child: their interests, strengths, personality, and developmental journey. Younger children are inspired by older peers, while older children build leadership, patience, and empathy through helping others.

    Family Partnership

Families are welcomed into the life of the classroom throughout the year. Through monthly themes and reflections, we build a shared language between home and school, so children experience consistency, connection, and encouragement wherever they are.

Strong Foundations for the years to come

Montessori In Our Curriculum

Our classroom offers the traditional Montessori curriculum, guided by experienced AMI and AMS-trained teachers. Children build strong foundations in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and critical thinking through purposeful, hands-on experiences that leave room for play, curiosity, and creativity.

Each lesson begins with materials children can hold and explore, so ideas become concrete before they become abstract. Concepts build upon one another over time, and children leave Little Eden with a foundation that honors who they are, nurtures who they are becoming, and helps them discover how they can contribute to the world around them.
